Introduction

The development of ‘green’ energy is now seen as a necessity and the most obvious answer to reducing our environmental impact.

Objectives

To raise funds for the development of innovative, more cost-effective methods of producing reliable environmentally friendly energy, based in the UK, as most innovation grants and subsidies are not available to private citizens.

  1. Innovative ‘green’ energy products.
  2. Innovative ‘green’ concept vehicle and products.

“Innovation is critical to the UK’s future prosperity, for a better quality life and future job prospects.”

No minimum fund is required to commence, but will require at least £1m to completely develop all theories.

* All donations will be spent wisely and sparingly, to achieve the objectives listed above.

This will:-

1. Create jobs at all levels, directly and indirectly.

2. Boost the economy.

3. Create alternative ‘green’ energy source(s), better for the environment.

4. Increase exports, thus increasing the UK’s revenue.

5. Reduce energy costs/bills.

“This Research & Development is significant and important, making the world a better place to live.”

* Several theories have been researched and formulated.

Quotes:

  • Without innovation and without investment there is no progress.
  • Example, ‘You can teach people to be an accountant’, but you cannot teach people to be innovative or creative.
  • “Small businesses and entrepreneurs are Britain’s future and we need to back them to the hilt.”, quote by Mr. John Caudwell, former proprietor of “Phones 4 U”.
  • A £1m budget is a lot of money, but in the grand-scheme, not a lot of money, if the above objectives can be achieved.

History

History is littered with examples of innovations that, at first dismissed as unimportant, went on to become triumphs – from early view, that the cinema was a minor novelty to Decca Records’ rejection of the Beatles as never likely to catch on.

A familiar ring?

Flushed with excitement, Bell and Watson demonstrated their new device to Western Union, but the company’s executives failed to see its potential. ‘Mr Bell,’ they wrote to him, ‘after careful consideration of your invention, while it is a very interesting novelty, we have come to the conclusion that it has no commercial possibilities,’ adding that they saw no future for ‘an electrical toy’. Fortunately for Bell, others were not so short-sighted. Within just four years of its invention, America had 60,000 telephones. In the next twenty years that figure would increase to over six million, and Bell’s telephone company, renamed American Telephone and Telegraph, would become the largest corporation in America, with stock worth $1,000 a share. The Bell Patent (No.174,465) became the single most valuable patent in history.

Although there are sources of ‘green’ energy, they have disadvantages. An example is listed below.

Disadvantages of wind turbines

1. The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from zero to storm force. This means that wind turbines do not produce the same amount of electricity all the time, there will be times when they produce no electricity at all.

2. Many people feel that the countryside/coast should be left untouched, without these structures being built, the landscape/coast should be left in its natural form for everyone to enjoy.

3. Wind turbines are noisy. Each one can generate the same level of noise as a family car travelling at 70mph.

4. Many people see wind turbines as unsightly structures and not pleasant or interesting to look at. They disfigure the countryside/coast and are generally ugly.

5. Large wind farms are needed to provide entire communities with enough electricity. For example, the largest wind turbine available today can only produce enough electricity for 475 homes, when running at full capacity.

6. Lengthy planning process.

7. The shadow cast by the wind turbine and blades.

8. The wind turbines have to be located in windy locations.

9. The wind turbines are very expensive to install.

* All these disadvantages have been addressed and several theories have been formulated to resolve all of these problems.
